Your life in WTF numbers

You in numbers

Enter your birthday and see what your body and the Earth have done since. None of it leaves your browser.

How we count: an average resting pulse of 80 beats per minute (60 to 100 is normal), 16 breaths per minute (12 to 20 is normal), Earth travels about 940 million km around the Sun per year (NASA), a lunar cycle lasts 29.53 days. People sleep about a third of their life. These are averages, your real numbers differ.

🎃 The golden pumpkin! Here is your secret Halloween fact:

The first jack-o’-lanterns were turnips. In Ireland and other Celtic regions in the 19th and early 20th centuries, people carved faces into turnips, sometimes potatoes or beets, and put a candle inside. It was meant to keep away the restless spirit “Stingy Jack”, who was barred from both heaven and hell. The National Museum of Ireland in County Mayo still keeps a plaster cast of a carved turnip from Donegal with “a pinched angry face”.
